Mardaani 3 is the highest-grossing film in its franchise at about ₹75 to ₹77 crore worldwide, but trackers disagree on the verdict.

Mardaani 3, released on January 30, 2026, ended as the highest-grossing film in the Mardaani franchise, according to the box office trackers. Yet the label it carries depends on who is counting. Koimoi calls the result Losing against a reported budget of ₹60 crore, while Pinkvilla called the film a success. The figures here are trade estimates.

The numbers

Koimoi's closing report puts the worldwide gross at about ₹77.12 crore: ₹62.52 crore gross in India, which is ₹52.99 crore net, and ₹14.60 crore overseas. With a reported budget of ₹60 crore, Koimoi estimates a recovery of about 88 per cent and lists the film as Losing. Pinkvilla's lifetime report puts the worldwide total at about ₹75 crore and describes the run as a success. KS Box Office, in its table, lists an India net of ₹52 crore and a Semi Hit label.

The gross totals therefore agree within a few crore. The labels do not, and the reason is the budget: a lower cost assumption makes the same collection a profit.

The franchise

Mardaani 3 is directed by Abhiraj Minawala and stars Rani Mukerji, with Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad in the cast, according to the Wikipedia list of 2026 Hindi films. Koimoi describes it as the franchise's biggest earner and Rani Mukerji's fifth-highest worldwide grosser. Mardaani, the first film, introduced Rani as the police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy, and the series has built a reputation for crime dramas rooted in real social problems.

For a franchise that has not relied on large budgets, a worldwide gross above ₹75 crore is a milestone, even if the trackers disagree on whether the film recovered its cost.

The January release window

The film opened on January 30, ahead of the February releases that included Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and O'Romeo on February 13. Its India net of ₹52.99 crore means it sat well below the big hits of the year: Border 2, which opened in January and ended at about ₹362 crore net in India on Koimoi's list, took much of the market that month.

A female-led crime drama without a large star ensemble faced a crowded calendar, and the numbers should be read in that light.

Rani Mukerji's recent recognition

Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress award at the 71st National Film Awards for Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, a film released in 2023. DNA reported the win. The 71st National Film Awards were announced on August 1, 2025, and Shah Rukh Khan also won Best Actor at that edition.

That win and Mardaani 3's results arrived within months of each other, and together they show a performer whose box office and critical reputations are both strong, even if a single film's verdict is mixed.

What the figures do and do not show

Three things are safe to say. Mardaani 3 grossed about ₹75 crore to ₹77 crore worldwide. It earned about ₹52 crore to ₹53 crore net in India. And it is the highest-grossing Mardaani film so far.

What is not safe to say is that it was either a flop or a hit without qualification. Koimoi's Losing and Pinkvilla's success are both defensible readings of nearly the same data, and a reader who wants a single label should check which budget each tracker assumes.
