Shahid Kapoor released two films in 2026, shot largely at the same time, and both finished a little short of their reported budgets on Koimoi's tables. This profile sets out the numbers and what has been confirmed for his next projects.

O'Romeo

O'Romeo opened on February 13, 2026. Vishal Bhardwaj directs, and the cast includes Nana Patekar, Triptii Dimri, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vikrant Massey, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani and Farida Jalal. Koimoi's closing report puts the worldwide gross at ₹123.1 crore, with ₹98.35 crore from India and ₹24.75 crore from overseas. The India net was ₹83.35 crore against a reported budget of ₹130 crore, and Koimoi labels it Losing. KS Box Office lists ₹69.10 crore India net and an Average label.

Reviews were mixed. The Hindu called the film meandering.

Cocktail 2

Cocktail 2 opened on June 19. Homi Adajania directs, with Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna alongside Shahid, produced by Maddock Films and Luv Films. Koimoi's closing report gives a worldwide gross of about ₹166.3 crore and an India net of ₹104.5 crore against a reported budget of ₹110 crore, about 95 per cent recovered, and labels the run Losing. Pinkvilla put the worldwide total at about ₹139 crore, and KS Box Office called the film a Semi Hit.

Shot together

Shahid told the Times of India that he shot Cocktail 2 at the same time as O'Romeo. The two films are in very different genres, a gangster romance and a romantic comedy, which makes that schedule notable.

What comes next

According to the reports we found, Farzi 2 is his next confirmed project. An untitled romantic comedy with Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Amit Ravindranath Sharma, is expected to begin shooting in late 2026 for a mid-2027 release. Filmfare reported that claims about Shahid joining another project, Adal Badal, were incorrect.

The two results side by side

On Koimoi's numbers, Cocktail 2 earned about ₹43 crore more worldwide than O'Romeo, against a lower reported budget. Neither film reached its budget on that tracker's calculations, though Cocktail 2 came closer. Trackers disagree on both films, as the Pinkvilla and KS Box Office figures show.

The cover photograph

The cover photograph shows Shahid Kapoor at an event with Naz Choudhury. It is an archive photograph and not from either film.

The industry context

Both films were produced by or associated with large banners. Cocktail 2 is a Maddock Films and Luv Films production, and O'Romeo is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, with whom Shahid has worked on earlier films. The cast lists show how crowded both were: O'Romeo has eight billed names and Cocktail 2 has three leads.

Koimoi's 2026 opening weekend list places Cocktail 2's ₹50.1 crore among the year's top ten Hindi openings. That is a useful reminder that opening strength and final recovery are different measures.

What we do not know

We do not know how much streaming and television sales added to either film's finances. We do not know Farzi 2's release date. And we do not know whether the untitled romantic comedy will hold its mid-2027 target.

The bottom line

Shahid Kapoor's 2026 is two releases, both below their reported budgets by Koimoi's count, and a pipeline that includes Farzi 2 and a rom-com. The figures are estimates, the verdicts are tracker-specific, and the plans are subject to change.
