King, the Siddharth Anand action film starring Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan, is set for release on December 24, 2026. It will be Khan's first theatrical release since Dunki in 2023, so the film carries unusual attention. This report separates what has been confirmed from what remains unconfirmed.

The release date

Shah Rukh Khan said on September 15, 2026 that the release date will not change, even though Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three are both scheduled for December 18 and will share screens in the run-up. Hindi release dates have moved often this year, so the statement matters, but it is a statement of intent and not a guarantee.

The cast and crew

According to Wikipedia's list of 2026 Hindi films and the film's own page, King is directed by Siddharth Anand, who co-wrote it with Sujoy Ghosh, Suresh Nair and Sagar Pandya. Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures produce it, with Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand credited as producers.

The cast is large: Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, in her theatrical debut, are joined by Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Jackie Shroff, Raghav Juyal, Abhay Verma, Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla. Music is by Sachin-Jigar and the score by Anirudh Ravichander.

The shoot

Principal photography began in May 2025. The unit shot in Mumbai, Warsaw, Gdansk and Cape Town. Khan has said in public remarks that he had a few injuries during the shoot, a point he raised himself and which we report only in that limited form.

The promo

A 45-second promo was certified by the Central Board of Film Certification on October 15, 2026. That certification is a documented fact. A teaser around Khan's birthday on November 2 has been widely reported as a possibility, but no official announcement has confirmed it, so readers should treat any specific teaser date as unconfirmed.

What the film is

The story has been described only in outline. Wikipedia notes that the film is reportedly inspired by Léon: The Professional, the 1994 thriller, but the makers have not confirmed that comparison in detail and the plot remains under wraps. In the absence of a trailer, any further plot claims would be guesswork.

Why it matters commercially

Shah Rukh Khan had three releases in 2023: Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. He has had none since. Jawan earned him his first National Award for Best Actor, shared with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail, at the 71st National Film Awards. King therefore arrives after a long gap and a major honour.

The film also lands in the busiest week of the year, with Hollywood releases on December 18 and a Christmas date that gives it a long holiday weekend. Trade trackers will compare its opening to the biggest Hindi openers of 2026. On Koimoi's list the leading films by India net this year are Dhurandhar The Revenge at ₹1186.32 crore and Border 2 at ₹362.76 crore. Any projection for King would be speculative, and we have not seen a credible published estimate.

What to watch before release

Three confirmed things are worth tracking. First, whether the December 24 date holds. Second, the first full trailer, which has not been released. Third, the Central Board of Film Certification's rating for the full film, which will come closer to release. Everything else, including the film's budget and overseas rights, has been reported inconsistently, and we have not used those reports.

The bottom line

King has a confirmed date, a confirmed director, a confirmed cast of A-listers and a certified 45-second promo. It does not yet have a public trailer or a verified plot. For now, readers have a strong ensemble and a long-awaited return to theatres, with the first real test coming when the trailer arrives.
