Ramayana: Part 1, Nitesh Tiwari's two-part retelling starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, is scheduled for worldwide release on November 5, 2026, with paid previews on November 4. It is among the most expensive Indian films announced, and the next three weeks will bring more detail on how it is being sold.

The release plan

Reports say the film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with an IMAX release. Bookings are reported to open on Dussehra. Dharma Productions distributes the Hindi version and Sony Pictures handles international distribution. Part 2 is planned for Diwali 2027.

The cast

According to Wikipedia, Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Yash plays Ravana. Sunny Deol plays Hanuman. Ravie Dubey is Lakshman, Arun Govil plays Dasharatha, Lara Dutta plays Kaikeyi, Kunal Kapoor plays Indra and Rakul Preet Singh plays Surpanakha. Sheeba Chaddha and Adinath Kothare are also listed.

The score is credited to Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Producer Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus and DNEG are behind the visual effects, and Yash's Monster Mind Creations is also a producer.

The budget

The Times of India and the Indian Express have reported a budget of about ₹4,000 crore for the combined project. That figure is a media report, not a producer-confirmed number, and budgets of this kind are often quoted for both parts together. We treat it as an estimate.

The trailers

The first trailer arrived on July 30. An English-language trailer followed on August 5 and listed a November 6 date, which differs from the Indian date. A second trailer was reported around October 15.

One difference has drawn attention. The English trailer describes Rama as "Not a God, but a man", while the Hindi trailer identifies him as an incarnation of Vishnu. The makers have not published an explanation, and readers should see the two cuts as aimed at different audiences rather than as a contradiction in the film itself.

Why the date matters

November 5 places the film three weeks before Yeh Prem Mol Liya on November 27 and seven weeks before King on December 24. It has the screen space of a festive window mostly to itself. For a film of this size, the first weekend will be tracked closely by Sacnilk, Koimoi and Box Office India, and those trackers often differ by several crore on opening figures.

Ranbir Kapoor's other major announced film is Love & War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which [IndiaToday.in](http://IndiaToday.in) and the Indian Express report for January 21, 2027. Between the two films, his calendar for the coming months is set, and Ramayana: Part 2 follows at Diwali 2027.

What remains unconfirmed

There is no official runtime in the sources we reviewed. There is no confirmed box office target. The ₹4,000 crore budget is reported rather than announced. And although paid previews on November 4 are widely reported, the exact number of shows is not public.

The bottom line

Ramayana: Part 1 has a confirmed director, a confirmed lead cast, a two-part structure and a release date of November 5 backed by two trailers. What it does not have is a verified budget or box office forecast. The film's reception will shape how the second part, due at Diwali 2027, is perceived.

Reading the reports

Several figures around the film, including the budget and the exact preview plans, come from press reports and not from the makers. The release date, the cast and the director are the best-documented facts, and everything else should be read as provisional until the makers confirm it.
